How do bed bugs spread?

Bed bugs can easily spread through luggage, clothing, or used furniture. They "hitchhike," latching onto items and travel with you, latching off in your home. For example, a single pregnant female bed bug can "hitchike" into your home on your pants, latch off and lay her eggs, thereby starting an infest.

What are the signs of an infestation?

Common signs include bites on your body, blood stains on sheets, and small black spots on furniture and walls. If you suspect an infestation, it's crucial to take care of it immediately. While many clients initially try a "DIY" approach, this method can backfire as bed bugs have immunity to many of the products sold at retail.

It's also common where one person presents evidence of bed bug bites on their skin, while another person sleeping in the same bed is bite free.

This is strictly an immune response by one person and lack of an immune response in another.  The individual showing bites - typically red welts - has an immune response that sends histamine to the bite site.

The individual not showing any signs of biting may be getting bit as well, however their immune system sends no histamine to the bites.

This is because bed bug bites are medically benign, they vector no disease or pathogens. Thus. some people's immune systems will simply ignore the bed bug bite and no evidence of biting is visible.

How long does the extermination process take?

Most bed bug infests are fairly contained, one or two rooms, however, the technician must go through the house to fully assess the spread and treat accordingly.

Most infested homes can be successfully treated in about a day.
